About Jersey Hospice Care

Jersey Hospice Care aims to maximise the quality of life for people in Jersey living with palliative care needs due to cancer or motor neurone disease. We care for and support patients, their families and carers through our range of free services; these include, home care, a Day Hospice, Community Bereavement support, In-Patient care, physiotherapy, diversional therapy and complementary therapies.

  • We have been supporting the local community for many years. Our first nurse was appointed in 1982, the original Clarkson House in Grouville opened in 1985 and we moved to our current premises in Mont Cochon in 1995.
  • Jersey Hospice Care makes no charge for any of its services?
  • Our daily running costs are in the region of £6,000?
  • Each year one person in every 250 in Jersey will be diagnosed with cancer and one person in four will die of it?
  • We rely on hundreds of wonderful volunteers who are committed to supporting our work in a host of different ways. For example driving patients to and from Clarkson House, helping in our shops, helping in the Day Hospice or In-patient Unit, providing bereavement counselling and tending to the garden at Clarkson House.
  • The Home Care Team provides care for over 80 people in their own homes at any one time. The specialist nurses in this team provide 24/7 care every day of the year to people in the community and their families?
  • The Community Bereavement Service is available to anyone in Jersey who has suffered a loss, regardless of the nature of the bereavement?
  • Jersey Hospice Care is a charity and receives no funding from the States of Jersey. We rely entirely on the generosity of the people of Jersey who fundraise, donate and volunteer to support our work?
